The appointment sees Mapika Manwa return to a role she held from 2023 to 2025, a period that gave her first-hand experience steering ZIFA’s administration through a complex phase of reform, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

ZIFA said Mapika Manwa’s reappointment is anchored on her track record in football administration and governance. Having served as General Secretary for two years, she is familiar with the Association’s structures, FIFA and CAF compliance requirements, and the operational demands of running the sport nationally.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is pleased to announce the appointment is Ms. Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the substantive General Secretary of the Association following a competitive recruitment and interview process, ZIFA stated.

The ZIFA Executive Committee congratulated her on the appointment and wished her success as she assumes her new responsibilities.

Her return comes as ZIFA pushes to consolidate reforms, improve governance standards, and drive football development at all levels. The Executive Committee said her institutional knowledge is expected to help accelerate ongoing efforts to professionalise the Secretariat and improve service delivery to leagues, clubs, and national teams.

ZIFA also expressed appreciation to Mr. Norman Gwangwadza, who served as Acting General Secretary.

ZIFA said it looks forward to the continued support of government, sponsors, clubs, players, fans, and all football stakeholders as it works to “grow, strengthen and transform football in Zimbabwe” under Mapika Manwa’s leadership.
