Chiefs of Police from across the Southern African Development Community are set to meet in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, from 2 to 6 June 2025 for the annual general meeting of the SADC Chiefs of Police Sub-Committee and the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation.
The meeting will focus on developing comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to transnational organised crime across the region, in line with the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan 2020–2030.

Book NowKey agenda items include strengthening regional frameworks to combat organised criminal syndicates involved in drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, motor vehicle theft, human trafficking and migrant smuggling, stock theft, money laundering, and cybercrime. Discussions will also cover improving information sharing and coordinating joint and simultaneous operations among member states.
Delegates will review recommendations from the recent SARPCCO Technical Organs meeting held in Dar es Salaam from 28 to 30 April 2025.
The session will be chaired by Camillus Wambura, Inspector General of the Tanzania Police Force and current SARPCCO Chairperson. During the meeting, IGP Wambura will hand over the chairmanship to Mrs. Merlyne Yolamu, Inspector General of the Malawi Police Force, at the conclusion of his one-year term.
Preceding the main Chiefs of Police/SARPCCO meeting will be sessions of the Heads of INTERPOL National Central Bureaus for Southern Africa and the SARPCCO Technical Organs. These include the Permanent Coordinating Sub-sub Committee comprising Directors of Criminal Investigations, as well as the Legal, Women’s Network, and Training Sub-sub-Committees.
SADC’s stated objectives include achieving development, peace and security, and economic growth, while alleviating poverty and enhancing the quality of life for people in Southern Africa through regional integration based on democratic principles and sustainable development.
