The derby lived up to its billing from the opening whistle, with Scottland imposing themselves early and creating a series of opportunities that exposed CAPS United’s defensive vulnerabilities. Goalkeeper Harmony Nare was called into action almost immediately, producing a crucial one-on-one save to keep his side in the contest.

Scottland’s attacking intent continued throughout the opening half, with the hosts striking the woodwork in the 13th minute as they searched for a breakthrough. CAPS United struggled to convert possession into meaningful chances and were largely kept on the back foot by a determined Scottland side.

After surviving sustained pressure in the first half, CAPS United’s resistance was broken moments after the restart. Tymon Machope opened the scoring in the 46th minute, finishing off a well-worked move involving Khama Billiat and Walter Musona to hand Scottland a deserved lead.

The goal injected further confidence into Scottland’s play as they controlled large portions of the contest while frustrating CAPS United’s attempts to mount a comeback. Makepekepe pushed forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser, but their efforts were repeatedly thwarted by Scottland’s disciplined defensive structure.

As CAPS United committed numbers forward in stoppage time, Scottland struck the decisive blow. Sadney Urikhob found the back of the net in the sixth minute of added time to seal victory and send the home supporters into celebration.

Despite ending on the losing side, CAPS United goalkeeper Harmony Nare earned the Man of the Match award following a series of impressive saves that prevented an even heavier defeat.

The outcome has significantly altered the complexion of the title race. CAPS United’s defeat allowed Hardrock F.C. to move to the top of the standings, while Scottland’s victory strengthened their credentials as genuine championship contenders.

With only three points separating the top four teams, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title battle remains finely poised as the season approaches its halfway stage. For Scottland, the victory represents both a morale boost and a warning to their rivals. For CAPS United, the result raises fresh questions as they seek to halt a worrying run of form that has seen them surrender valuable ground in the championship race.
