Chitungwiza — A highly successful, educational and ideologically mobilising meeting was held in Zengeza East Constituency, drawing overwhelming attendance as party members gathered in large numbers to engage on Bill Number 3.
The meeting, organised through the Publicity and Information Centre, brought together structures from across the constituency, including Zengeza East, Sekek 1 A and B, Chimoio A and B, as well as Zengeza 4A, 4B and 4C. War veterans and various party wings, including the Women’s League led by Cde Kachito, were also strongly represented.
The event was graced by Central Committee member and former Mayor of Chitungwiza, Cde Joseph Macheka, who was the guest of honour. Also present was War Veterans Central Committee member Cde Pasi, alongside DCC leadership including Cde Shumba Mhandu, Cde Pata and Cde Chimunya. Other cadres in attendance included Cde Jukai, Cde Shamba, Cde Chabhanga, Cde Nyuke, Cde Fatar and Cde Hlabani.
The meeting was further strengthened by the presence of Provincial leadership, with PC Cde Chibvongodze acknowledged for his role in guiding and consolidating structures at provincial level.
Two key addresses were delivered during the meeting by DCC Cde Shumba Mhandu and Central Committee member Cde Joseph Macheka. Their presentations focused on conscientising and educating members on the provisions, significance and implications of Bill Number 3, which seeks to extend the presidential term of office from five years to seven years.
Members demonstrated high levels of engagement, unity and ideological alignment, reflecting a growing understanding of the Bill and its place within the broader national development trajectory. The strong turnout and active participation highlighted the effectiveness of grassroots mobilisation efforts within the constituency.
The response from members was overwhelmingly positive, with a clear indication of readiness to contribute meaningfully to ongoing national discussions. The momentum generated is expected to feed into the upcoming Parliamentary Committee engagement scheduled for Monday next week, where constituency views will be further consolidated.
