
ZANU PF is gearing up for a victory in the upcoming Chikomba West Constituency by-elections, scheduled for February 21, 2026. The party’s Mashonaland East Province gathered at Kadungure Primary School in Ward 7 for the official campaign launch, with provincial members, youth league, women’s league, and main wing leadership in attendance.
Two local government seats are up for grabs in Chikomba district following the death of Zanu PF councillor Florence Mudzamiri (ward 7), while the ward 12 seat became open after former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor Ishmael Maukazuva was jailed for having a sexual relationship with a minor.

Honourable Tatenda Mavetera who is a member of Parliament for Chikomba West highlighted ongoing projects, including a newly constructed Manhize clinic, set to be officially opened by President Mnangagwa this year, aligning with the party’s Vision 2030 goals.
Provincial Chairman Cde Daniel Garwe urged supporters to back candidate Cde Fortunate Chakwanda, emphasizing “let’s put our hope in Cde Fortunate Chakwanda”.
Cde Garwe expressed optimism about winning the election, stating “Victory is certain, leaving no one and no place behind, as our President says.
The party is confident of securing the two seats, with Honourable Mavetera assuring Chairman Garwe of a ZANU PF win.
