The workshop, hosted at the ZANU PF Convention Centre, brings together Central Committee members, senior party officials, provincial leaders and department heads, and is scheduled to run until 8 February. According to the party, the seminar is focused on strengthening leadership capacity, ideological clarity, internal discipline and strategic coordination.

In his opening address, President Mnangagwa said the workshop was meant to serve as a platform for introspection, renewal and skills strengthening among Central Committee members, stressing that the organ plays a central role in party governance between congresses.

President Mnangagwa said Central Committee members carry constitutional responsibilities to implement party resolutions, supervise programme delivery and maintain discipline across structures. He urged members to recommit to party values, collective leadership and people centred development aligned with Vision 2030.

President Mnangagwa told delegates that leadership should be grounded in loyalty, humility, integrity and service, adding that positions are not an entitlement but are earned through consistent work and dedication. He called on members to uphold the party constitution and maintain ethical conduct in both party and government roles.

Addressing governance and economic matters, President Mnangagwa said party leaders must deepen their understanding of national development frameworks, including National Development Strategy 1 and National Development Strategy 2, so they can effectively guide communities and support implementation of government programmes.

President Mnangagwa also highlighted the importance of innovation, media engagement and technology adoption in party mobilisation, urging leaders to make full use of new media platforms to communicate policies and achievements while promoting unity of purpose.

On international relations, President Mnangagwa reiterated Zimbabwe’s foreign policy position of being a friend to all and an enemy to none, and reaffirmed that Zimbabwe is open for business while maintaining sovereignty over its resources and national interests.

The President warned against corruption, inefficiency and complacency within party and government structures, stating that there is zero tolerance for misconduct that undermines national development goals. He said leaders must actively expose weaknesses, improve oversight and strengthen accountability systems.

The seminar programme includes sessions on leadership capacity development, constitutional literacy, the national economy, national security, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as strategies for strengthening party structures and expanding membership across demographic groups.

Senior party figures in attendance include Vice Presidents and Second Secretaries of ZANU PF, Honourable General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Honourable Colonel Retired Kembo Mohadi, National Chairperson Honourable Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, and Secretary General Honourable Advocate Jacob Mudenda, among other officials.

Party officials said the workshop is expected to produce recommendations aimed at improving organisational effectiveness, policy supervision and grassroots mobilisation.
