
Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Professor Paul Mavima, officially launched the Retired Expert Skills Database and the Diaspora Skills Database, marking a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s pursuit of national development.
This initiative aims to harness the country’s vast pool of expertise, transforming skills from latent assets to strategic national resources. The databases will enable evidence-based deployment of expertise to priority sectors, strengthening service delivery, accelerating innovation, and enhancing national competitiveness.
The objective of the Retired Expert Skills Database is to preserve institutional memory, mentor emerging professionals, and provide informed policy guidance while the Diaspora Skills Database: aims to facilitate remote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and targeted skills repatriation, tapping into the expertise of Zimbabweans living abroad.
Professor Mavima emphasized that Zimbabwe’s development must be skills-driven, deliberate, and inclusive, urging eligible professionals to register and contribute to nation-building.
This initiative is expected to bridge the country’s skills gap, drive economic growth, and position Zimbabwe as a competitive player on the global stage.
