Binga — The Matabeleland North Provincial Empowerment Fund was officially launched in Binga on Sunday, unlocking critical start-up capital aimed at transforming livelihoods and stimulating community-based income-generating projects across the province.

Speaking at the launch, Presidential Investment Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara said the fund is designed to economically empower communities through sustainable ventures that promote inclusive growth and long-term development.
As part of the initiative, US$25 000 was disbursed to each of the six constituencies in the province, a development that was warmly received by beneficiaries and ruling party leadership.
“This is powerful in terms of empowerment, and we thank the President. These resources will allow us to implement meaningful projects that will change our lives,” community members said.
ZANU PF Matabeleland North Provincial Chairperson, Cde Richard Moyo, said the programme aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which prioritises economic empowerment and inclusive development.
“This empowerment drive reflects the President’s vision to uplift communities and ensure that development reaches all corners of the country,” he said.
ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, said the initiative demonstrated the Government’s commitment to improving lives, particularly in marginalised areas.
“The President has vowed to see the lives of people in Binga improve. This programme is a message of empowerment and hope,” he said.
Dr Tungwarara stressed the need for transparency and accountability in managing the funds, warning against abuse.
“We do not want greedy individuals who deprive ordinary people of the President’s support. These funds are meant to uplift communities so that no one and no place is left behind,” he said.
In addition to the constituency allocations, ZANU PF District Coordinating Committee chairpersons from all seven districts received vehicles and US$10 000 each to support their operations. A further US$20 000 revolving fund was allocated to women in Binga to promote small-scale enterprises.
The launch also included the distribution of 2 000 food hampers to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities and orphans, through the Foundation for the Care of Vulnerables, in line with festive season support efforts.
The programme forms part of the Second Republic’s inclusive socio-economic development agenda under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.
