ZESA Assures Minimal Power Disruptions Over Festive Season

ZESA Holdings (Pvt) Ltd has assured Zimbabweans of a stable power supply as the country enters the festive season, citing key interventions that are expected to reduce system constraints and load-shedding.

In a statement released on 12 December 2025, the company highlighted improved availability at Hwange Stage 1 and 2, as well as Kariba Power Station. Additional energy from Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and imports through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) will supplement domestic generation, helping maintain a steady supply throughout the holiday period.

ZESA noted that lower industrial demand due to festive shutdowns is expected to ease pressure on the national grid. The utility’s technical teams will remain on standby for any faults or emergencies, and the 24-hour National Contact Centre will be fully operational to provide support to consumers.

“This festive season, we anticipate minimal system constraints and effective load management,” the company said, reaffirming its commitment to “Powering Progress. Empowering the Nation.”

The utility also extended festive greetings, wishing stakeholders a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, encouraging citizens to enjoy the holidays with confidence in the country’s electricity supply.
