The ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed 17 lives in Chitungwiza, describing the loss as a national wound that demands both empathy and action. In a heartfelt condolence message issued on 24 July 2025, the Harare Provincial Youth Chairman, Cde Emmanuel Mahachi, extended solidarity to the grieving families, friends, and the wider Chitungwiza community.
In his statement, Cde Mahachi emphasized the irreplaceable value of the lives lost, parents, children, and youth with aspirations now cut short by a tragedy that could have been prevented. He described the accident as a painful reminder of the urgent need for improved road safety protocols and a culture of accountability on the country’s roads.
While extending prayers for the recovery of the injured, the Youth League called for renewed focus on transport safety systems and stronger public awareness to prevent future occurrences. The statement underlined the importance of collaboration among communities, government agencies, and civil society to push forward reforms in the transport and road infrastructure sector.
Beyond mourning, the Harare Youth League pledged to assist the affected families and work with key stakeholders in response efforts. The League also affirmed its commitment to uphold the dignity of life and support policies aligned with Vision 2030, reiterating ZANU PF’s push for an inclusive, safe, and development-focused Zimbabwe.
As the nation grapples with the weight of this loss, the message from the Youth League stands as both a tribute and a timely call to action, a moment for collective mourning and reflection on how to build safer, more compassionate communities.
