Over 2,200 Businesses Inspected as Taskforce Cracks Down on Counterfeit Goods and Smuggling

The national Taskforce on Business Malpractice is intensifying its ongoing nationwide crackdown on smuggling and the sale of counterfeit goods. In its latest update, the Taskforce reported that 2,243 businesses have been inspected to date in a sweeping operation aimed at promoting ethical commerce and public safety.

Authorities have prosecuted 203 offenders while 269 compliance notices have been issued to non-compliant businesses. In addition, over 4,315 units of counterfeit and unregulated products have been seized across multiple provinces.

“The work continues — leaving no one and no place behind,” reads the statement. “We remind all businesses to uphold professionalism for the growth of the economy and the protection of the public.”

The Taskforce reiterated its commitment to clean up the marketplace, ensure consumers are protected from dangerous and substandard goods, and restore confidence in Zimbabwe’s retail and distribution networks.

Business owners are being urged to adhere to regulations and avoid involvement in any form of malpractice, as authorities continue to monitor activities with firm resolve.
