
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the names of 28 candidates who successfully advanced to the final round of interviews for appointment as Labour Court judges.
The shortlisted candidates were selected from a pool of 44 individuals who participated in the first round of rigorous public interviews. This merit-based recruitment process was conducted in line with Section 180(4)(c) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, which promotes transparency and accountability in judicial appointments.
The 28 candidates proceeding to the final stage are: Bepura Innocent, Bhebhe Chipo, Chivasa Estere, Chiwaridzo Marko Tafirenyika, Gapara Martin Ray, Gatawa Tinevimbo, Gonesi Evidence, Hare Mary-Grace Nyarai, Hove Thompson, Jaravani Motion, Machingauta Naison, Makwande Bianca, Manwere Taurai, Mapara Edward, Mapendere Elias Zanondonga, Masango Joseph, Mawire Johnlife Tungamirai, Mupeiwa Nowell, Mupindu Sandra, Murambasvina Ignatious, Mzyece Rodin, Ndirowei Donald Osmond, Nzero Ignatious, Rutanhira Archford, Tsikwa Clever Garikai, Unzemoyo Godfrey Simbarashe, Ziyaduma Garudzo, and Zuyu Judith Dudzai.
From this group, the JSC is expected to appoint eight new judges to the Labour Court to strengthen the judicial system.
The expansion of the Labour Court bench is anticipated to ease the current backlog of cases, expedite labour-related rulings, and contribute to a more efficient and responsive justice delivery system. This development aligns with national objectives to foster a fair labour environment and support industrial and economic growth.
