Brigadier General Retired Victor Rungani, a decorated liberation war veteran and esteemed military officer, has been conferred with national hero status following his passing on Tuesday in Harare after a short illness.
The announcement was officially conveyed to the Rungani family on Friday by the Minister of State for National Security in the President’s Office, Senator Lovemore Matuke. The formal communication took place at the family’s farm in Goromonzi, where mourners, relatives, and community members had gathered to pay their respects.
The conferment of national hero status is one of the country’s highest honours, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the liberation and service of Zimbabwe.
