Zimbabwe and Algeria have reaffirmed their strong bilateral ties with renewed determination to deepen cooperation across political, economic, and trade spheres. This follows a high-level meeting in Harare between Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, and Algeria’s State Secretary for African Affairs, Honourable Selma Bakhta Mansouri.
Honourable Mansouri expressed Algeria’s satisfaction with the current relationship between the two nations, describing it as not only solid but deeply rooted in a shared struggle for liberation. She noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and to explore new avenues for collaboration that will be addressed under the framework of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC).
“Our bilateral relationship is based on a strong historical bond. Algeria and Zimbabwe share a common history of fighting against colonialism, and we are committed to building a future of mutual development and prosperity,” she said.
The two countries already collaborate in key areas such as education and agriculture, and the forthcoming JPCC session is expected to expand the scope of cooperation into more sectors that support sustainable growth and shared prosperity. Both sides underscored the importance of solidarity, peace, and inclusive development in advancing Africa’s broader integration agenda.
The diplomatic engagement marks a significant step in strengthening strategic partnerships that are guided by African values, historical friendships, and a vision for a connected and empowered continent.
