Starlink Commits to Affordable Internet Solutions for Marginalised Zimbabwean Communities

Satellite-based internet service provider, Starlink, has expressed satisfaction with the uptake of its services in Zimbabwe and has pledged to introduce new low-cost internet packages aimed at supporting underserved and marginalised communities.

Granted an operating license less than a year ago, the United States-based company has identified Zimbabwe as its fastest-growing market on the African continent. This growth has prompted Starlink’s top executives to visit Zimbabwe for high-level engagements and to strengthen strategic collaboration with the government.

During a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera, the Starlink delegation pledged to expand access through more affordable solutions tailored to local needs.

“We have experienced resounding success in Zimbabwe and are eager to continue working closely with the Government of Zimbabwe to support its goal of achieving universal connectivity,” said Mr Shaun Hathrik, a senior executive at Starlink.

The Government, through the Ministry of ICT, praised Starlink’s contribution toward enhancing digital inclusion and driving socio-economic development across the country.

“We are delighted to welcome the Starlink executive team to Zimbabwe. Their visit reflects their confidence in our market. They have committed to introducing low-cost internet kits targeting schools, clinics, and other public institutions,” said Minister Mavetera.

The Ministry continues to spearhead the transformation of the ICT sector in Zimbabwe, with the licensing of Starlink seen as a milestone in the country’s vision to build an inclusive, ICT-driven society.
