Zimbabwe Announces Suspension of Tariffs on U.S. Imports to Strengthen Bilateral Trade

While the principle of reciprocal tariffs is recognized as a legitimate tool for protecting domestic employment and industry, the Republic of Zimbabwe remains firmly committed to maintaining cordial and cooperative relations with all nations, guided by a policy of non-adversarial diplomacy.

In line with this commitment, and in a gesture aimed at deepening economic ties with the United States of America under the leadership of President Trump, I have directed the Government of Zimbabwe to suspend all tariffs currently applied to goods originating from the United States.

This strategic initiative is designed to encourage the growth of American imports within the Zimbabwean market, while simultaneously creating opportunities for Zimbabwean exports to enter the U.S. market. It reflects our dedication to fostering a fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade environment, and marks a significant step toward stronger bilateral cooperation.
