
President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to economic modernization, national sovereignty, and grassroots empowerment at the 382nd Ordinary Session of the Politburo held on March 26, 2025.
With a focus on economic stability, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment, the session laid out key strategies ahead of the Central Committee meeting. Acknowledging the importance of agriculture, President Mnangagwa emphasized national food security, with the issuance of title deeds now structured to guarantee security of tenure and access to financing for farmers.
As the 2025 Winter Wheat Season approaches, stakeholders were urged to intensify preparations to maintain Zimbabwe’s self-sufficiency in wheat production. The President also underscored the nation’s growing housing stock, rapid rural modernization, and rising tourism figures, all of which signal economic progress.
Infrastructure projects are set to resume at full scale following the rainy season, boosting economic activity and employment. Meanwhile, the mining sector continues to expand, contributing positively to GDP growth and national revenues. The formalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was also a central theme, with the President having met vendors and SME representatives earlier in the day to discuss solutions that enhance their market participation and economic impact.
Zimbabwe’s global recognition in sports was celebrated, with the President hailing the election of Minister Kirsty Coventry as the first female President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a historic achievement. In the same spirit of empowerment, the successful launch of the Presidential Youth Empowerment Facility, in collaboration with private-sector partners, was recognized as a game-changer in fostering entrepreneurial growth and economic self-sufficiency among young people.
Calling for unity and accountability among ZANU PF members, President Mnangagwa urged party structures at all levels to remain connected with communities and address grassroots concerns. As a revolutionary party, ZANU PF remains unwavering in its mission to deliver development and safeguard Zimbabwe’s sovereignty from external interference. He commended Zimbabweans for their patriotism and resilience, dismissing any threats to the country’s peace and stability.
With national events such as the 45th Independence Anniversary and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) approaching, the Politburo reaffirmed the party’s oversight role in ensuring successful preparations. As the session concluded, President Mnangagwa reiterated that ZANU PF remains a strong, forward-moving force, determined to build Zimbabwe “brick by brick and stone upon stone.”
