President Emmerson Mnangagwa has removed Apollonia Munzverengwi from her position as Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province with immediate effect.
The decision, made under Section 108(1a) of the Constitution, was announced in a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet. No reasons were provided for Munzverengwi’s dismissal. Following her removal, President Mnangagwa appointed Itayi Ndudzo as the new Minister of State for Mashonaland East under Section 104(1) of the Constitution. Ndudzo, a legal practitioner, assumes office immediately.
The reshuffle marks a significant change in the province’s leadership, though the government has not issued an official explanation for the move.
