The proposed agreement will prioritize modernizing Zimbabwe’s defence system, particularly through training programs. “The MOU will mainly focus on training programmes and will result in our officers receiving further training in India. I will be travelling to India next month to sign the MOU,” said Honourable Muchinguri Kashiri.

The collaboration will also target combating non-traditional warfare methods, reflecting the evolving nature of global security challenges.

In addition to the defence-focused agreement, Ambassador Kumar emphasized the need to revive long-dormant joint commission and trade committee meetings. “We have not had our meetings for a long time, and we want to resume these meetings this year. We will involve different ministries in areas such as defence, mining, and education,” he said.

Zimbabwe and India have a history of cooperation across sectors like education, health, and mining, with numerous institutional agreements underpinning their relationship. The resumption of joint meetings is expected to further enhance these partnerships, offering opportunities for mutual growth and development.

The forthcoming MoU signifies the deepening of ties between Zimbabwe and India, with a shared vision of addressing contemporary security challenges and fostering broader economic collaboration.
