President Mnangagwa Extends ZDF Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda’s Term

General Philip Valerio Sibanda, ZDF Commander

General Sibanda will serve from the 24th December, 2024 to the 23rd November 2026.

The President’s appointment of General Sibanda is made in accordance with the Defence Act (Chapter 11:02).

The appointment was made through General Notice 15 of 2025. Under General Sibanda’s stewardship, the ZDF has carried out its constitutional mandate with professionalism.

His appointment is well-placed, as the incumbent possesses vast experience to elevate the force to the next level.
