Zimbabwe to Host 3rd Africa Education Summit

Zimbabwe is set to host the 3rd Africa Education Summit in Victoria Falls from 5-8 April 2025, following approval from President Mnangagwa.

This major event was facilitated by Hon. Angeline Gata, Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education who introduced a delegation from the Global Skills Hub (UK and USA) to the President, seeking his endorsement. The summit presents a vital opportunity for Zimbabwe and the African continent to address educational challenges and showcase skills.

Hosting the Africa Education Summit will foster collaboration among stakeholders, including government officials, educators, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the continent. The summit aims to address pressing educational challenges, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions to improve learning outcomes. By gathering diverse perspectives, the event will catalyze partnerships that extend beyond borders, enriching Zimbabwe’s educational landscape.

Set against the backdrop of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the summit will attract international delegates and tourists, boosting the local economy through tourism, hospitality, and related services. Hosting such a prestigious event enhances Zimbabwe’s global profile, demonstrating its commitment to advancing education and positioning it as a leader in tackling educational issues within Africa.

A key theme of the summit will be skills development, a critical area for socioeconomic growth across Africa. With rapid changes in the global job market, educational systems must adapt to equip students with relevant skills. The summit will focus on curriculum reform, vocational training, and integrating technology in education to prepare African youth for the future workforce.

The event will also serve as a networking hub, where participants can share insights, experiences, and research findings. Workshops and panel discussions will cover topics ranging from early childhood education to higher education reforms, empowering educators and policymakers to implement strategies tailored to their unique contexts, ultimately improving educational outcomes continent-wide.

By hosting the Africa Education Summit, Zimbabwe is taking a proactive step toward empowering its youth. The initiatives emerging from the summit will emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students, nurturing individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also responsible citizens who positively impact their communities and economies.

This decision to host the 3rd Africa Education Summit in Victoria Falls marks a pivotal moment for Zimbabwe under the leadership of President Mnangagwa.

It represents an invaluable opportunity to position Zimbabwe as a leader in educational reform and inspire a new generation of learners, with benefits extending beyond the summit itself, laying the foundation for a brighter future in African education.
