Clive Chinwada, a prominent hotelier and current General Manager of Holiday Inn Harare, has been elected as the new president of the Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe (TBCZ). Chinwada succeeds Wengayi Nhau, who has led the council for the past three years.

With over a decade of experience with the African Sun group and a history as past president of the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe, Chinwada brings extensive industry knowledge to his new role. He previously served as a vice president of TBCZ.

In addition to Chinwada’s appointment, the council has elected three new vice presidents, each representing key sectors within travel and tourism. Farai Chimba, former president of the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe, will represent the accommodation cluster. Kathy Nyaumwe of the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents will head the activities cluster, while Isabel Sachiti from the Board of Airline Representatives will oversee the access cluster.

The TBCZ, a vital advocate for the travel and tourism industry in Zimbabwe, plays a significant role in shaping the sector’s future. Chinwada emphasized the council’s commitment to supporting the industry as it recovers and grows in the post-Covid era. He highlighted the TBCZ’s ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders and contribute to the sector’s development.

“The TBCZ is dedicated to ensuring that the voice of the travel and tourism sector is heard on all relevant issues,” Chinwada said. “Our focus is on creating an environment that supports and encourages the growth of the industry.”

Under Chinwada’s leadership, the TBCZ aims to strengthen its role and impact, striving to make travel and tourism a leading contributor to Zimbabwe’s economic growth by mid-century.
