Zimbabwe is set to host the 44th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, with 16 designated hotels in Harare prepared to welcome delegates. The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality has confirmed that these hotels, including Rainbow Towers, Holiday Inn, Cresta Lodge, and others, have been satisfactorily refurbished to meet the required standards.
In a bid to ensure exceptional service during the summit, the Ministry has conducted intensive customer service training for hotel staff. Hotels have been instructed to deploy their most qualified personnel, offering 24-hour room service to guests. Furthermore, officers from the Ministry of Tourism and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) will be stationed at each hotel throughout the summit. Rainbow Towers Group has taken additional measures by assigning five General Managers to oversee operations at the Rainbow Towers hotel.
As part of the preparations, eight villas in Mt Hampden are expected to be completed on time for the summit. The Harare City Council has also announced that Municipal Police officers will be deployed to maintain order at the designated hotels, with vendors and taxis being relocated to ensure a smooth experience for the delegates.
Arrangements have been made with utility providers, such as ZESA and ZINWA, to guarantee uninterrupted electricity and water supply throughout the event. Hosting the delegates at these hotels is anticipated to not only increase their profit margins but also enhance their reputation, potentially leading to future business opportunities. The influx of delegates and support staff for the SADC Summit is expected to generate significant revenue for Zimbabwe as a whole.
Security services have also been heightened to ensure the safety and success of the summit. Authorities have issued a stern warning to any individuals planning to disrupt the event, making it clear that any attempts to cause trouble will be dealt with decisively.
As Zimbabwe prepares to host the SADC Summit, all efforts have been made to ensure a seamless and successful event, positioning the country as a prime destination for future international gatherings.
