
The Zimbabwean Women’s A cricket team continues to excel at the ongoing Kwibuka T20 tournament in Rwanda, securing an impressive victory over Cameroon by 89 runs on Monday at the Gahanga Cricket Ground in Kigali.
This win marks Zimbabwe A’s third victory in four matches, underscoring their strong performance in the tournament.
Opting to bat first, the emerging Lady Chevrons posted a formidable total of 174 runs for the loss of just two wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kelis Ndhlovu was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 98 runs, while Beloved Biza supported with a valuable 29 runs.
Cameroon, in reply, could only manage 85 runs for eight wickets in their 20 overs. Tchouabo Leslie was the top scorer for Cameroon with 19 runs, followed by Brenda Waluma who added 12 runs.
The Zimbabwean bowlers, particularly Mitchell Mavunga and Kudzai Chigora, were instrumental in restricting the opposition, each claiming two wickets with economical bowling.
Zimbabwe A is competing for the championship alongside teams from Rwanda, Cameroon, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda.
