HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu has suggested his team’s recent slump could be a result of fatigue ahead of their clash against CAPS United at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo this afternoon.
Bosso are winless in their last three league games which have seen them get two draws and a loss. They also lost the Independence Cup final to Dynamos in Murambinda, Buhera.
It has been a busy schedule for Bosso in April as they have travelled to Ngezi, Manicaland and Harare all in a fortnight.
Kaindu feels fatigue might be catching up with his team.
“In terms of mental strength, it is something that we are working on. We just hope and trust that we are seeing a lot of improvement. Unfortunately, we have dropped points lately, maybe it was because of the overload of the games that we played traveling to Ngezi, Manicaland and Harare but we are back home and hoping for the best tomorrow,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu says he is looking forward to an exciting game of football against Makepekepe.
“There were some injury concerns from the last game we played but all the players that got the knocks have been training while we continue to assess them. They are coming from a big win. They come with most of their players who have experience in terms of playing in the Premier League. We know what they are capable of doing. We just anticipate an exciting game of football,” said Kaindu.
He called on the Bosso faithful to come in their numbers and rally behind the team.
“We expect fans to come in their numbers and we appreciate the role they play as the 12th man who is always behind the team and giving us that support. We also know CAPS United can draw a crowd so we are anticipating a big crowd will be there and it will be an exciting game,” said Kaindu.
The last time CAPS United won a league match against Highlanders was back in 2019.
Since then, the two sides have met four times in the league with Bosso winning two of those games while the other two games ended as stalemates.
Makepekepe will be high in confidence following their impressive 3-0 victory over GreenFuel in a midweek fixture played at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Thursday.
Matches between the two teams have in the past provided some exciting football and one can only hope it will be the same tomorrow.
