Arenel too sweet for Mosi Rovers

Arenel Movers

ZIFA Southern Region Division One pacesetters Arenel Movers continued with their blistering form after they handed Victoria Falls-based Mosi Rovers a 6-1 defeat in a match played at White City Stadium on Saturday.

A brace from captain Zibusiso Dambo, single goals from Frank Mthethwa, Leroy Ndlovu, Kudzai Dzingwe and an own goal ensured that Kudzai Mhandire’s men continue in the right direction on their hunt for the sole ticket into the country’s elite football league.

Arenel’s Leroy Ndlovu was happy with his team’s victory, but believe his team could have scored more goals.

“I am happy we won, but we missed a lot of good chances. On another day, you pay for missing so many chances. It was also pleasing for me to get a goal. The team is moving in the right direction but we will remain focused knowing that the race is not yet over,” said Ndlovu.

The massive triumph by Mhandire’s boys saw them open a 12-point gap ahead of second placed ZPC Hwange.

ZPC Hwange were held to a goalless home draw by Philani “Beefy” Ncube-mentored Adachi FC.

Following reports that they have gone for a lengthy period without getting their monthly salaries, the Sweet Boy’s winning spirit and commitment has to be credited. They remain the only side in the league that is yet to taste defeat.

Arenel Movers will not be in action in the upcoming midweek fixtures.

They were due to face former Premier Soccer League side Zimbabwe Saints who were recently kicked out of the league owing to financial problems that saw them fail to fulfill a number of fixtures.

As a result, Arenel will be handed three points and three goals on a silver platter courtesy of a walkover decision.

Seasoned campaigners Indlovu Iyanyathela registered a 1-0 away victory over Binga Pirates. Filabusi-based Jordan Sinnot won by a similar margin when they got the better of Hwange’s DRC United.

The match between Casmyn and Mainline was postponed.

Weekend Results:
Arenel Movers 6-1 Mosi Rovers, DRC United 0-1 Jordan, Binga Pirates 0-1 Indlovu Iyanyathela, Casmyn vs Mainline (pp), ZPC Hwange 0-0 Adachi
