It did not come on a silver platter. Ngezi Platinum Stars had to fight tooth and nail to come out victorious yesterday at the National sports stadium when they dismissed a stubborn Yadah football club (Miracle Boys) by a goal to nil.

It was a hard fought victory for the Mhondoro based team. Nigel Makumbe did the unexpected when he did justice by connecting a good cross from Walter in the 12th minute.

This match was one of the most entertaining this far in the league. It had all the ingredients that supporters expect when they pay their hard cash.

The ball was always on the pitch. The boys were playing short passes and on point. The visitors are known for playing good and entertaining football but this time they had found their match and had to sweat for that win.

The visitors goalkeeper Nelson Chadya had to keep his team in the game by making some crucial saves. Welly Kamudyariwa had crashed his effort against the crossbar while Junior Zindoga had taken a weak shot that Nelson Chadya safely collected.

Yadah came from the breather rejuvenated but could not break the visitors defence. The game was worth watching.

Ngezi coach Takesure Chiragwi thanked the almighty God for the early goal that they scored.

He said Yadah is not an underdog team. The team had to be at their best to come out victorious.

The match was won in the first half.

His opposite number Expense “Bla Eki” Chitukutuku was full of praise for the way his team played despite the fact that the result was not favourable.

He said he had done everything for this match but only that luck was not on their side.

His team gave their all and in some instances outclassed Ngezi.

The major undoing for Yadah was their failure to convert chances.

The win restored Ngezi’s position at the summit of the log with 23 points. Yadah occupies the 11th position with 14 points in their bag.
