The countdown to the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027 has intensified, with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania today on an inspection tour of facilities earmarked to host the continental showpiece.
Dr. Motsepe visited Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, one of the key venues that will host matches during the tournament that will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
The CAF President held meetings with Tanzanian football leadership led by Tanzania Football Federation President Wallace Karia, as well as officials from the Local Organizing Committee and senior government officials, to assess the state of preparedness for the 2027 edition.
Dr. Motsepe is accompanied by CAF Vice-Presidents Kurt Okraku and Feizal Sidat, together with Interim General Secretary Samson Adamu.
The visit forms part of CAF’s ongoing monitoring and engagement programme to ensure that host nations meet the required infrastructure, organisational and logistical standards ahead of AFCON 2027, which is expected to be the biggest AFCON yet staged in the East Africa region.
Tanzania, which is co-hosting the tournament for the first time alongside its regional neighbours, has been undertaking extensive upgrades of its stadiums, training facilities and ancillary infrastructure as Africa braces for the 2027 finals.
