Zimbabwean champions Herentals Queens have officially commenced their CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers campaign after being drawn in Group A for the 2026 tournament in Botswana.
The draw was conducted on 4 August 2026 and streamed live on the COSAFA YouTube channel and CAF TV. Herentals Queens, who represent Zimbabwe, will now battle it out in a competitive group where only the top two teams from each pool will advance to the semi-finals.
The COSAFA qualifiers will determine which club earns the right to represent the Southern African region at the CAF Women’s Champions League Continental Finals later this year. The winner of the continental finals will then go on to represent Africa at the inaugural 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Speaking ahead of the draw, the club said the team was ready for the challenge and eager to make its mark on the continental stage. The qualifier in Botswana marks the start of what the club has termed its “African safari sojourn” as it seeks to fly the Zimbabwean flag high.
Herentals Queens earned their place in the qualifiers after dominating the domestic league and will be looking to build on Zimbabwe’s growing reputation in women’s football.
The tournament brings together the top women’s clubs from across the COSAFA region, with the competition expected to be fierce as teams chase a spot at the continental finals.
Fans can continue to follow Herentals Queens’ journey through COSAFA and CAF’s official channels as the group stage fixtures are confirmed.
