RENEWED HOPE AS CAM & MOTOR MINE ROARS BACK TO LIFE AFTER STRATEGIC REVIVALKADOMA

There is a palpable sense of excitement and a flurry of activity at the Cam & Motor gold mine in Kadoma, as the operation gears up for a major restart. This follows a strategic pause of more than a year, during which management undertook exhaustive technical and economic studies to chart a sustainable path forward for both mining operations and the processing plant.

The revival of Cam & Motor comes on the heels of the highly successful restart of sister operation, the Renco Mine, in August last year. Together, these developments mark a definitive turning point for the company, securing a vital national asset and restoring a primary livelihood for thousands of families in the surrounding communities.

Resilience in the Face of Adversity

The road to revival was not without its challenges. During the year-long hiatus, several rogue elements attempted to destabilize the organization by exploiting legal provisions, culminating in a controversial corporate rescue application a few months ago.

However, these attempts to fracture worker unity and undermine management ultimately failed. Management and employees stood resolutely united, demonstrating the deep-rooted values of the company and a profound mutual trust among core stakeholders.

New Subversive Attempts Swiftly Condemned

Even as the mine prepares for its grand reopening, certain external actors have launched a fresh attempt to interfere with the company’s legitimate corporate affairs. In a clear bid to derail the recovery process, these elements have filed appeals against a series of strategic decisions recently passed by the shareholders.

These shareholder decisions are primarily reformative in nature, designed to modernize operations, strengthen financial stability, and ultimately safeguard the long-term progress of the company and its workforce. Employees have widely condemned this latest legal maneuver, viewing it as another transparent attempt by self-serving entities to stall progress and sabotage the economic well-being of the region.

“The bonds within this company only grew stronger under pressure,” said one long-serving employee during an informal gathering at the site. “Those trying to force corporate rescue and block these reforms do not have our interests at heart; they have their own agendas. All they achieve was delaying a revival that thousands of families were counting on.”

Employees Call for Accountability

While optimism dominates the atmosphere at the plant, there remains underlying resentment toward the external actors and trade union representatives who championed these continuous legal disruptions.
Many workers expressed bitterness over the delayed restart, viewing the corporate rescue attempt and the subsequent appeals as a direct threat to their job security. Conversations on the ground indicate a growing demand among the workforce for strict accountability, with several employees suggesting that those responsible for actively impeding the resuscitation process should face suspension and disciplinary action.

A Bright Horizon for Kadoma

With the legal hurdles successfully navigated and the strategic plans finalized, the focus has firmly shifted back to production. The engineering and mining teams are already on-site, bringing heavy machinery back online and preparing the processing plant for full-scale operations.

The workforce has expressed deep appreciation for management’s extraordinary planning and foresight during the downtime. Rather than pursuing hasty, short-term fixes, the strategic pause was utilized to ensure the mine’s long-term viability and safety.

As the wheels turn once more at Cam & Motor, the company is not just restarting a mine—it is revitalizing an entire community and reclaiming its position as a cornerstone of the nation’s mining sector.
