ZIMRA Launches Payment After Assessment System for Commercial Declarations

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has announced that the integrated Payment After Assessment (PAA) system for commercial declarations is now live, effective February 8, 2026. This marks a significant milestone in ZIMRA’s digital transformation, enhancing trade facilitation and upgrading the country’s customs clearance process.

The system ensures that duties and taxes are paid only after entries are assessed, reducing clearance times. Payments are processed through regulated financial institutions, enhancing accountability and traceability. The system has automated reconciliations and strengthened audit trails, thus promoting better governance.

Taxpayers can now make direct payments to ZIMRA, eliminating intermediate transfer costs (IMT).

Importers and exporters make payments directly to ZIMRA after assessment. The system is fully integrated with participating banks, enabling real-time payment processing.

ZIMRA acknowledged the critical role of clearing agents, financial institutions, importers, and exporters in supporting the new reform. The Authority is committed to addressing operational challenges and improving service delivery.
