President Mnangagwa sworn in for second term

President E D Mnangagwa was sworn in as President of the republic at the National Sports stadium in Harare yesterday.

The event was witnessed by thousands of people from all walks of life, leaders from the African continent and diplomats representing various countries across the globe.

Notable faces at the swearing in ceremony included, Former First Lady Grace Mugabe and daughter Bona Mugabe, former Vice Presidents Cde Joyce Mujuru and Cde Phelekezela Mpoko who served in the first republic.

Their attendance speaks volumes of the President’s call for unity in the country and the party. A united nation thrives and develops while a fragmented nation witness poverty and civil strife. The President has charmed former colleagues in the party by extending an olive branch for them to be among dignitaries at his swearing in.

The solidarity demonstrated will usher in a new Zimbabwe that we yearn for as President E D Mnangagwa always preaches peace and tolerance.

Other highly noted figures were South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa who is under threat from Western countries because of his allegiance to BRICS, a group of countries made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The West is anti BRICS as it is ushering a new world order not controlled by the west.

The presence of Russia irks America which considers it their enemy.

President of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi , President of the Democratic republic of Congo Felix Antoine Tshisekede, Vice President of Botswana Slumber Tsogwane, Priminister of  Eswatin Cleopas Dlamini, Priminister of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa and former President Edgar Lungu of Zambia were among the dignitaries,

Rwanda President of the Senate Rt Hon Dr Francois Xavier Klinda and former President, Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique were among other foreign dignitaries who graced the occasion including various representatives from different countries across the world. The giant stadium was full to capacity with people from various walks of life celebrating the victory together with the President elect.

In his speech President Dr E.D Mnangagwa said let’s focus on the future, building our country brick by brick towards attaining a middle-class economy by 2030 regardless of the illegal sanctions imposed on us.

He reiterated his mantra, “Nyika inovakwa, igonamatirwa, igotongwa nevene vayo.”

He thanked Zimbabweans for maintaining national unity and peace before, during and after the elections.

“As Zimbabwe, we have demonstrated that we are a mature democracy and we do not have losers in this election but we won against the imperialists.” said President Mnangagwa.

He said local resources will uplift the lives of Zimbabweans. Focus should be on improving lives through beneficiation of local resources.

He spoke against profiteering and greed saying these have no place in our society.

The Government will continue prioritising the modernisation of our local infrastructure in line with global trends. The President said that his Government will focus on maintaining food security at household level and will fulfill all promises they made.

The president highlighted that the urban populace has suffered for a long time and he is going to work towards improving the living standards by availing clean water and sanitation.
