ZIFA Lines up Warriors friendlies ahead of 2026 AFCON tournament

In a welcome development that tests the character, cohesion and combination of the Warriors team’s players, the Zimbabwe Football Association has lined up two friendly matches during the upcoming FIFA window as part of preparations for the TotalEnergies 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco in December.

The mother body’s president, Nqobile Magwizi, confirmed the positive development following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Harare.

Magwizi reiterated ZIFA’s desire to play formidable opposition to test the team’s character and competitiveness ahead of AFCON. ZIFA has lined up friendlies against African football powerhouse Algeria and Qatar. The two teams will provide the Warriors’ technical team with a chance to select players to do duty in Morocco as well as assess the perfect combinations.
