Kirsty Coventry Elected International Olympic Committee president

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Sports, Art and Recreation Kirsty Coventry is the new International Olympic Committee (IOC) president after winning the election in Greece.

She becomes the first African female International Olympic Committee (IOC) president and youngest ever.

She is the first president from outside Europe or North America – to lead the organisation in its 130-year history.

Coventry shrugged competition from six male counterparts vying for the top post.

Zimbabwe is synonymous with grooming it’s citizens for top positions in the world.

H.E President ED Mnangagwa has been vindicated for entrusting her with a role as Minister in the Second Republic.
