Zimbabwe Warriors to Face Benin at Moses Mabhida Stadium in World Cup Qualifier

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed that the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, will host Zimbabwe’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Benin on March 20.

The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.In a statement, ZIFA announced the development to the football fraternity:”The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is delighted to announce that the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s Team, the Warriors, will play their Matchday 5, Group C, FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Benin at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa,” the statement read.

The match kicks off at 18:00 hrs, with entrance charges set at R50.Zimbabwe currently sits at the bottom of Group C with two points from four games. Their qualification hopes are slim, and only a miracle would see them advance.Following the Benin match, the Warriors will travel to Nigeria for a clash against the Super Eagles four days later.

Zimbabwe has been forced to play home games outside the country due to the unavailability of CAF/FIFA-certified stadiums.

However, the new ZIFA board, led by businessman Nqobile Magwizi, has given hope that the team will soon return to home soil.The board has indicated that within six months, the Warriors should be able to host matches locally, as renovations at the National Sports Stadium are at an advanced stage
