ZimTrade Issues Warning Over Fake Social Media Accounts

ZimTrade, Zimbabwe’s national trade development and promotion body, has issued a warning regarding fraudulent social media pages and groups impersonating the organization and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Allan T. Majuru.

A group operating under the name “Zimbabwean Pride Trading” on platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp has been falsely representing ZimTrade and soliciting funds from individuals under the guise of offering profit-making programs.

“ZimTrade confirms that it is not affiliated with these pages or groups, and strongly advises the public to be cautious of these deceptive activities. Individuals should avoid engaging with or sharing any personal or financial information on these platforms, and refrain from sending money to anyone claiming to represent ZimTrade.

The organization is cooperating with relevant authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for these scams. Anyone contacted by individuals or groups pretending to be ZimTrade is encouraged to report the incident immediately to the nearest police station or to ZimTrade through the following official channels’, read the statement issued by ZimTrade

ZimTrade remains dedicated to supporting Zimbabwean exporters and strengthening the nation’s export sector. The organization appreciates the public’s trust and urges everyone to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes.
