President Mnangagwa Strengthens Military Leadership with Strategic Promotions

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, has demonstrated his commitment to advancing national security and fostering exemplary leadership by promoting six colonels in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to the rank of Brigadier-General.

These promotions, effective December 16, 2024, align with the provisions of the Defence Act and reflect recognition for distinguished service and unwavering dedication. The newly promoted officers, Brigadier Generals Oscar Tshuma, Raban Nikisi, Benjamin Sabata, Passmore Taruodzera, Million Ndlovu, and Lawrence Munzararikwa represent a vital reinforcement of leadership within the armed forces.At the conferment ceremony held at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks in Harare, the Commander of the ZNA, Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe, highlighted the significant role of the military in safeguarding the nation’s progress towards achieving an upper-middle-income economy. He also emphasized the urgent need to address the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse, which poses a threat to national security and societal values.
