President Mnangagwa rescues Ruwa as he stops auction of its properties

His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa has come to the rescue of the Ruwa Local Board which was on the verge of losing its equipment to a creditor.

The creditor won a High court order in case number HC5365/2022 against the local authority and equipment was set to be auctioned.

Through Statutory Instrument 174 of 2024 Presidential Powers (Temporary Measures) (Extension of State Liabilities Act to the Assets of Ruwa Local Board) Regulations, 2024 President Mnangagwa has stayed legal proceedings and sales in execution of the local board’s properties.

The sale if allowed would have crippled the operations of the local authority putting the lives of 300,000 residents at risk.The equipment attached is critical for service delivery in the local authority’s day to day operations.

The local board, through the intervention of the President has regained possession of the property during the subsistence of the regulations.
