The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) is heating up as Simba Bhora continues to impress. Their latest victory came yesterday when they defeated Chegutu Pirates 2-0 in a match held at Wadzanayi Stadium.

This win has propelled Simba to a nine-point lead at the top of the PSL standings.

Coached by Tonderai Ndiraya, Simba dominated the match from the start. The two goals were scored in the first half. Just minutes into the game, captain Walter Musona delivered a curling cross that Ishmael Nyanhi headed home, putting the hosts ahead 1-0.

In the 36th minute, Mthokozisi Msebe secured the three points for Simba by tapping in a layoff from Machope. The hosts could have scored even more, creating several opportunities that went begging.

Meanwhile, Chegutu Pirates remain at the bottom of the 18-team standings and are facing relegation. Despite the setback, their coach, Takaendesa Jongwe, remained optimistic.

“We’re going to fight tooth and nail to ensure we stay in the PSL next season,” Jongwe said after the match. “Today we gave it our all, but we were up against a top side and didn’t get the result we hoped for.”

Simba’s coach, Tonderai Ndiraya, praised his team’s performance. “Our game plan worked well; we aimed to unsettle them by scoring early, and it paid off. We’re now looking forward to our next assignment,” he said.
