The Sanganai Hlanganani 2024 Expo, Zimbabwe’s leading international travel and tourism showcase, will take place from September 12 to 14 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds in Bulawayo. The event, themed “Unlocking Tourism Potential for Sustainable Development,” aims to highlight Zimbabwe’s diverse tourist attractions, including the iconic Victoria Falls and the Matobo Hills, while promoting sustainable tourism practices. Local and international exhibitors will present their products and services, creating a platform for business opportunities, collaborations, and knowledge exchange within the tourism sector.
This year’s expo is set to contribute significantly to Zimbabwe’s economic growth, following the successful hosting of the SADC Industrialization Week and the SADC Heads of State Summit. Tourism, alongside mining and agriculture, remains a vital sector for the country’s economy, and the event aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader efforts to tackle economic challenges and promote recovery through a whole-government approach. The expo will provide increased international visibility for Zimbabwe, potentially boosting tourist arrivals, generating revenue, and creating jobs.
The Sanganai Hlanganani Expo is also expected to foster regional and international partnerships, with participants from countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Malaysia, China, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Indonesia, India, and Italy. This aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Engagement and Re-Engagement policy, which seeks to strengthen Zimbabwe’s ties with the global community. By promoting cultural exchange and regional cooperation, the expo will showcase Zimbabwe’s rich heritage and shift the narrative to a more positive image of the country on the international stage.
