SADC to Host Annual Industrialisation Week in Harare

Harare will host the 7th Annual SADC Industrialisation Week (SIW) from 28 July to 2 August 2024 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). Themed “Promoting Innovation to Unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth and Development Towards an Industrialised SADC,” the event aims to drive regional industrialisation and economic growth.The SIW is a key platform for discussing and strategising on industrialisation across the SADC region. It will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and international partners for seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and site visits to Zimbabwe’s industrial sites.Dr. Johansein Rutaihwa of the SADC Secretariat highlighted the significance of previous SIW declarations in guiding regional industrialisation efforts. This year’s event will build on these achievements, focusing on innovation and sustainable development.Mr. Peter Varndell of the SADC Business Council stressed the importance of collaboration in advancing innovation-driven industrialisation. The event will also review progress on the SADC Industrialisation Strategy and share success stories and strategies for developing regional value chains.Ms. Sekai Kuvarika of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) emphasized the role of the private sector in supporting the industrialisation agenda and driving economic transformation.The 2024 SIW continues the legacy of previous successful events held in other SADC member states since 2016.
