ZSE Holdings CEO Justin Bgoni Elected Vice President of African Exchanges Body ASEA

Zimbabweans continue to gain recognition on key international and continental bodies, with Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer Justin Bgoni appointed Vice President of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA).

ASEA officially announced the appointment on Monday, 5 October 2026, with effect from 2 October 2026.

Bgoni currently serves as Group Chief Executive Officer of ZSE Holdings, overseeing the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) and the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange (ZEEX), and is also the interim Chief Executive Officer of the Victoria Falls International Financial Centre (VFIFC).

His election to the executive leadership of ASEA comes at a time when member exchanges across the continent are deepening collaboration, enhancing inter-exchange liquidity and advocating for seamless cross-border investment frameworks.

Working alongside the newly appointed ASEA leadership, Bgoni will help guide the Association’s strategic objectives to scale African capital markets globally and leverage technology-driven market infrastructure.

Bgoni brings over 24 years of extensive international finance, management and executive leadership experience across Zimbabwe, South Africa and New Zealand. His career highlights include serving as Chief Financial Officer of the New Zealand Stock Exchange, Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company and Director of Private Equity at First National Bank.

Commenting on his appointment, Bgoni said he was deeply honoured to step into the role.

“Capital markets have a pivotal role to play in unlocking economic growth, facilitating sustainable investments, and strengthening regional connectivity across Africa. I look forward to working closely with our President, member exchanges, and regional partners to accelerate capital mobility and deliver tailored financial infrastructure solutions that meet Africa’s distinct market opportunities,” he said.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Bgoni holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science (cum laude) from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and a Master in Finance (cum laude) from the University of Wellington, New Zealand.

His appointment adds to a growing list of Zimbabweans assuming leadership positions on continental and global bodies, underscoring the country’s depth of professional expertise in finance and capital markets.

ASEA is the premier association of securities exchanges in Africa, dedicated to promoting mutual cooperation, expanding capital market infrastructure and facilitating cross-border investment across the continent.
