Book NowThe ambitious Division One returnees are currently enjoying new found financial stability after Cuttabove Group of Companies came in as sponsors just over a month ago, while experienced coach Arthur Tutani has injected much needed confidence in the side.
The coming in of the new sponsors and coach, who is assisted by Richard Chunga, has seen the Mazowe-based side rise from 15th position a month ago to ninth position now as they continue to improve.
At the weekend, Jumbo Giants played out a goalless draw away at Banket United, a team that has always proven hard to beat at it’s Kuwadzana Stadium fortress.
That result meant Jumbo ended the first half of the season with 28 points from 21 games, 13 behind log leaders Black Rhinos. Tutani’s men are guaranteed a place in the top half of the log table regardless of the outcome of the three remaining Matchday 21 games which will be played on Wednesday.
Assistant coach Chunga was satisfied with the draw at Banket, but felt the side would have walked away with all three points if they had converted their chances.
Chunga is also hoping for some reinforcements to the squad in the current mid-season transfer window.
“It was a close encounter whereby if we had managed to put away our chances, we may have walked away with all three points. But still a draw is not bad. It’s a point away from home, and we’ll take it,” said Chunga.
“We have to reinforce the squad so that we compete in the second half of the season. We are looking at adding a few strikers, one midfielder and another goalkeeper so that we have enough players to compete for the rest of the season,” Chunga added.
