Zimbabwe is intensifying preparations for the 66th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, with Cabinet confirming strong progress and rising participation ahead of the flagship trade and investment showcase set for 20 to 25 April 2026.
The update, presented by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, highlights growing confidence in the country’s premier business platform, with exhibitor uptake and international interest already surpassing last year’s figures. The 2026 edition will run under the theme “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,” reflecting Zimbabwe’s strategic focus on regional integration, industrial growth, and resilient supply chains in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area.
A key highlight of this year’s event will be its official opening on 23 April by President Duma Gideon Boko, underscoring strong regional cooperation and the importance of cross border partnerships in driving economic transformation.
From an analytical standpoint, early indicators point to significant growth in both scale and reach. A total of 520 exhibitors have registered, surpassing the 486 recorded in 2025, with 72 new participants entering the platform for the first time. Exhibition space uptake has reached 93 percent, translating to 49 100 square metres already booked, signalling robust private sector engagement.
International participation has also strengthened, with over 33 foreign exhibitors from 16 countries confirmed, compared to 17 in the previous edition. This growth reinforces Zimbabwe’s positioning as a regional trade hub and reflects increasing interest from international markets.
The build up to the trade fair has been driven by extensive stakeholder engagement involving the private sector and diplomatic community to broaden participation. In parallel, strategic coordination with key airlines including Air Zimbabwe, Fastjet Zimbabwe and Ethiopian Airlines is underway to enhance flight frequency and ensure seamless movement of delegates and exhibitors during the event.
ZITF 2026 is structured as more than an exhibition, serving as a high level platform for business dialogue and policy engagement. The programme will feature flagship events such as the Rural Industrialisation Indaba, the Youth in Business Festival, the ZITF Innovators Forum, the Connect Africa Symposium and the Diplomats Forum, alongside networking platforms including the Welcome Cocktail and Charity Golf Challenge.
These engagements are expected to stimulate investment conversations, promote innovation, and strengthen linkages between government and the private sector, while advancing Zimbabwe’s broader industrialisation agenda.
In broader economic terms, the strong preparedness and increased participation levels signal renewed momentum in Zimbabwe’s trade and investment landscape. The fair continues to act as a key barometer of industrial activity and investor confidence, while reinforcing the country’s integration into regional and continental markets.
