Book NowThis message came out strongly at a women’s conference held under the theme “Give to Gain – Empowering the Future-Proof Woman,” where participants from diverse professional and social backgrounds gathered to reflect on the role women play in shaping resilient economies and sustainable communities.
The conference went beyond motivational discourse and placed strong emphasis on practical frameworks that can help women transition from economic marginalisation to active participation in wealth creation. Speakers encouraged women to challenge self-doubt and social limitations that often prevent them from fully harnessing their potential in business, leadership and innovation.
Discussions during the conference highlighted the growing recognition that empowering women is not merely a social objective but a strategic economic imperative. Across many sectors, women continue to drive entrepreneurship, small business development and household economic stability, yet access to capital, networks and technical skills remains a major challenge.
Experts at the conference noted that programmes focused on financial literacy, innovation and entrepreneurship are becoming essential tools in closing this gap. By strengthening women’s economic capabilities, communities can unlock new sources of productivity, job creation and social stability.
Corporate institutions are also increasingly recognising their role in supporting women’s advancement. Among the key stakeholders present was NetOne, represented by Chief Finance Officer Nyasha Nyambuya, whose presence underscored the importance of private sector partnerships in advancing empowerment initiatives.
Through its participation, NetOne reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that uplift and equip women with opportunities to lead, innovate and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development.
Analysts note that empowering women has a multiplier effect across society. When women gain access to economic resources and decision-making platforms, families benefit from improved living standards, children gain better access to education and communities experience stronger social cohesion.
The conference therefore served not only as a platform for inspiration but also as a call to action. Participants emphasised that building a “future-proof woman” requires sustained investment in education, mentorship, financial inclusion and supportive policy frameworks.
As Zimbabwe continues to pursue broad-based economic transformation, initiatives that strengthen women’s economic participation are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping a resilient and inclusive national development trajectory.
