Harare — Hairdressers 4 Economic Development held a raffle draw at the ZANU PF Harare Provincial Headquarters, bringing together several affiliate groups in an event organisers said was aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and small business growth in line with National Development Strategy 2.

Book NowThe event was led by the organisation’s National Founder, Cde Carol, and was attended by representatives from multiple 4ED affiliate associations, including Mahwindi 4ED, Young Men 4ED, Young Women 4ED, Pastors 4ED, Fathers 4ED, Boyz dzaMudhara and the Zimbabwe Widows and Widowers Association 4ED Harare Province chapter.
National Chairman for Mahwindi 4ED, Cde Masango, was among senior affiliate representatives who attended in support. Young Men 4ED was represented by National PC Cde Kuziwa Shariwa.
The raffle draw was held under the theme Nyika inorukwa nevene vayo, with participants travelling from as far as Rusape and Bulawayo to attend. Organisers said the initiative was designed to encourage business networking, professionalism and innovation within the hairdressing sector and related enterprises.
Speaking at the event, Cde Carol said Hairdressers 4ED was formed in 2022 in alignment with Vision 2030 and aims to uplift practitioners in the sector through structured support and enterprise development programmes.
She said some hairdressers have historically been undervalued, and the formation of the affiliate structure provides recognition and organised empowerment for the profession.
As part of the empowerment drive, she said 75 hairdressers had received revolving funds of US$200 each to support their operations. She added that the group is also working on developing hairdressing products and equipment financing models that allow members to pay in instalments as their businesses grow.
Affiliate organisations and partners pledged various raffle prizes and support packages, including a dress valued at US$160, funeral policy support, cash contributions and a mobile phone donation. Among participating supporters were Funeral 4ED, Interpreters 4ED, Concord for Young Women in Business, Dandemutande and the Foundation for the Care of Vulnerable groups.
Winners of the raffle draw included Yvette Dadirai, Miriam Mutimbanyoka, Tinashe Ganda, Rutendo Mutanga and Mr Yusof, who won a stove.
Organisers said the programme is part of broader efforts to position small scale service providers and entrepreneurs as contributors to national economic development through structured empowerment and affiliate based support networks.
