The programme was led by National Deputy Political Commissar and Epworth North Member of Parliament, Honourable Taurai Kandishaya, whose leadership was widely acknowledged by the youths.
Guest of honour, Honourable Stanley Sakupwanya of Manicaland Province, used the platform to emphasise youth empowerment, innovation, and national pride. He cited how international content creator IShowSpeed recently recognised Zimbabwean digital talent, particularly among local content creators, as an example of untapped youth potential.
During the journey near Nyabira, Honourable Kandishaya highlighted that the solar farm project in the area was initiated under the Second Republic, demonstrating Government’s commitment to renewable energy and infrastructure development. Honourable Sakupwanya also praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership, noting tangible infrastructure projects such as the Beitbridge–Chirundu Highway upgrade, which he said had gained momentum since 2017.
He further called for the protection of Zimbabwe’s land and mineral resources, stressing national unity beyond political affiliations. “Whether ruling party or opposition, we are all grandchildren of Mbuya Nehanda,” he said, while also commending Zimbabwean businessperson Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei for his contribution to economic development.
The discussions also touched on social cohesion, with Honourable Sakupwanya expressing gratitude that Zimbabwe remains non-xenophobic. He advocated for increased youth representation through quotas, including participation on public boards such as media boards.
The tour proceeded to Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), where youths received a lecture on leadership and governance. Several dignitaries attended, including Mashonaland East Provincial Political Commissar Cde Lincoln Matare. CUT SRC President, popularly known as The Chief, and SRC Secretary for Legal Affairs, Takudzwa Mlambo, also participated.
Mashonaland West Provincial Youth Chairperson, Cde Tapiwa Masenda, welcomed the youths, referring to them as “virgin voters,” while encouraging Honourable Kandishaya to continue engaging young people. Central Committee Member and Secretary for Education, Cde Stanley Marime, urged youths to apply for Presidential Scholarships.
The programme also highlighted empowerment initiatives under the Munhumutapa Presidential Scheme, including plans for residential stands and fish farming projects in Kariba. During discussions, Honourable Kandishaya noted that party funds are sometimes used to support logistical needs for party supporters.
Youth contributions included proposals for digital skills training, such as online forex trading programmes in Glen View. Honourable Sakupwanya also remarked on Zimbabwe’s relative safety, comparing it favourably with other countries where armed security is common in public spaces.
The engagement concluded with announcements of a forthcoming special rally for Ama2K, where party cards will be issued and further stakeholder engagements held. The importance of integrity in public service, particularly avoiding corruption in Government tenders, was emphasised during the question-and-answer session.
Zimbabwean content creators, including P.O. Box Maestro Bhutisi and Kitso 36, also attended the event, adding to the programme’s youthful and innovative character.
