Former Foreign Affairs Minister Walter Mzembi’s corruption trial at the High Court in Harare has been postponed to January 28 and 30, and February 3, 2026.
The postponement followed submissions by Mzembi’s legal team, who argued that they were only served with the consolidated case docket on the same day, leaving them inadequately prepared to proceed with trial.

He is accused of misappropriating television sets valued at approximately US$2 million, which were procured for public fan parks during the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted by South Africa.
Mzembi was denied bail and remanded in custody in July last year after returning to Zimbabwe from South Africa and Zambia, where he had lived for nearly six years.
Warrants for his arrest had previously been issued after he allegedly failed to surrender his passport on November 19, 2018, and skipped a court appearance on January 18, 2019, citing medical treatment for colon cancer.
