Zimbabwe’s infrastructure modernisation drive under the National Development Strategy 2 is gaining visible momentum, with the Mabvuku Traffic Interchange emerging as a flagship project reshaping Harare’s transport landscape. The development underscores Government’s determination to confront urban congestion head-on while laying the groundwork for safer, faster and more efficient movement of people and goods.
Strategically located along a high-traffic corridor, the interchange is expected to significantly decongest eastern Harare, cut travel times and improve road safety. Beyond easing daily commuter frustrations, the project is designed to enhance economic efficiency by improving access to industrial zones, residential areas and key commercial centres.
Under NDS2, infrastructure development is viewed as a catalyst for broader economic transformation.
Investments in roads and transport systems are directly linked to industrial growth, economic diversification and job creation, while strengthening Zimbabwe’s competitiveness as an investment destination. The Mabvuku Interchange builds on foundations laid during NDS1, signalling continuity and acceleration in the national development agenda.
As Zimbabwe advances towards Vision 2030, projects such as the Mabvuku Traffic Interchange illustrate how policy, planning and execution are converging to deliver modern infrastructure that supports inclusive growth, urban resilience and long-term national productivity.
