
His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa has appointed Honourable Polite Kambamura as the new Minister of Mines and Mining Development, effective immediately.
This follows the removal of Winston Chitando from the position, as announced by the President in terms of Section 340, Subsection (1f), as read with Section 108, Subsection (1a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
Kambamura’s appointment is made in terms of Section 104, Subsection 1 of the Constitution, which grants the President the power to appoint Ministers. The move is part of a broader cabinet reshuffle, aimed at strengthening the government’s economic agenda and improving the country’s mining sector.
Chitando, who has been at the helm of the Mines Ministry, has been removed with immediate effect. The reasons behind his removal have not been disclosed, but it is believed to be part of a wider effort to revamp the country’s mining sector and attract new investment.
Kambamura, a seasoned politician and administrator, is expected to bring fresh perspectives and energy to the Ministry. His appointment has been welcomed by many in the mining industry, who are hoping for a more dynamic and business-friendly approach to mining development.
